About Matthew Savoy
Every role below looks different on paper: intelligence work, financial audits, digital media, technical writing. United States Marine Corps
1996–2000
Selected for intelligence training out of boot camp on the strength of his ASVAB scores, Matthew served as a Communications Intercept Operator, directly tasked by the NSA, deploying across dozens of countries during his tour. He was promoted to Sergeant within three years and holds a Top Secret/SCI clearance. Commendations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Naval Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, NATO Service Medal, Armed Services Medal, two Meritorious Masts, the Samuel B. Morse Award, and the Old Crow Award.

2008–2013
Audited financial records for accuracy and cost-effectiveness for large Dallas-area companies; became an Intuit Certified ProAdvisor and trained staff on point-of-sale systems.
Senior Content Editor, PNN
2012–2013
Wrote and edited daily articles on health, food safety, and life science; managed a company website launch that grew engaged users from double digits into the thousands.

2013–PRESENT
Founded Free Thought, LLC in 2013 and grew it into a top-400 globally ranked digital media company within 12 months, earning the Independent Media Award (INDMA) in 2015. Built and led a team of more than a dozen writers, video editors, and content creators, editing and writing over 14,000 articles that reached hundreds of millions of readers, and growing the company’s social media following to more than 6 million.

Consulted for Gainwell Technologies through RealogicHR, developing end-user documentation for complex government quoting software that let organizations submit Medicare contract bids.
Senior Technical Writer & QA Engineer, North
CURRENT
Leads technical documentation and quality assurance engineering, ensuring both the clarity of end-user content and the functionality of the systems it describes. Has designed and deployed production-grade agentic AI systems that automate release note generation, documentation gap-detection, and QA test scenario creation directly from engineering activity, sparking interest at the C-suite level, where the efficiency gains were obvious from the start.
